Medical Indemnity

VMIA Rural General Practice Program (RGPP)

Update 2008-9 – Details of this years package. (Premiums unaltered from 2006!)
VMIA Advisory 2008 (developed with RDAV).

The package was negotiated by RDAV with the Government of the day in 1996 when sky-rocketing indemnity costs were threatening to put rural GP Obstetricians out of business. It is backed by the State so you do not have concerns about the viability of the Agency.
Discussions are help throughout the year between RDAV committee members and staff of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) to keep it responsive to the workforce requirements and to make it easier for you to stay in rural. Proposed changes are taken to the Department of Human Services (DHS) for approval. There have been many enhancements, ensuring your VMIA policy remains the best medical indemnity solution available, and the envy of our interstate colleagues. The package is deliberately kept competitive with other indemnity packages.
The package is open to all doctors in designated rural locations with visiting rights to their local hospital. Information and advice is available from VMIA.
