The conference is moved around the State each year to give everyone a better chance to attend. For practical reasons we look to work with local Divisions. This year we are much indebted to Andrew Gault in Port Fairy, our membership secretary, and Vicki Hunt from ODGP.
We try as much as possible to involve other rural medical organisations. We have non-procedural CPD and a procedural segment designed for one day procedural training grant eligibility. The speakers all have a track record of rural understanding and activity.
Politics is kept to a minimum but we do have our Daniel Andrews, our State Minister attending this year and we have attached him to the Deans segment on friday late afternoon because we would like the State to expand funding to rural medical education. We felt it a good idea to revive the segment this year to provide impetus to the Deakin roll-out and to take stock of the whole program. We would hugely appreciate attendance for this part of the conference.
We have the usual family program and are continuing with the Practice Managers' segment. The Vic Hotel has hosted the Otway conference for a few years now and Port Fairy is a fun place for a week-end. So we hope to see you there.

The Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) is a national body representing the interests of rural medical practitioners right around Australia. Our vision is for excellent medical care for rural and remote communities. We are committed to building and maintaining a workforce of highly skilled and motivated rural medical practitioners. This requires adequate training and proper incentives, remuneration and support (both professional and personal). Formed in 1991, RDAA comprises the Rural Doctors Associations of each State and the Northern Territory. Members of these associations not only enjoy representation and other benefits at a state level, but also nationally.
